Chapter 1 discusses the fundamentals and a basic PC designing also the things to know and do before you start and the things you need to have and do things like getting to know your motherboard which is an important part of any system builder and it discusses troubleshooting
Chapter 2 talks all about choosing your components i.e. case, power supply and processor, Heatsink/Fan Units CPU Coolers Motherboard Memory, Floppy Disk Drive, Hard Drive, Optical Drive, Video Adapter Display Audio Speakers Keyboards Mice network adapters it even talks about buying the compotents and suggest building guideline.
Chapter 3 talks about building a mainstream computer this is the type of pc where the function of the pc is priority and not the price so spending those extra pounds will not harm you if anything enhance productivity whilst working on them on a daily basis with over 20 years of servicing pc’s the have given some very helpful tips on parts and this is great for solving compatibility issues.
Chapter 4 talks about building a Soho Server a great place for storing all data of your company they explain things in such an enjoyable way to read that turning through the pages is exciting reading.
Chapter 5 is for those of you who love games and are forever trying to find the ultimate PC this explains all you need to know in very easy terms with sections so you never have to read to much so digesting the information given is simple.
Chapter 6 is for those of you who love watching DVDs and playing music and all other media orientated things from one room or every room in the house it discuses many possibilities and shows you how to build the perfect pc for a media environment
Chapter 7 talks about how to build the perfect pc if space is a problem for you this where you would refer to as the term SFF meaning small form factor. If you wish to have a small pc with lots of power then this chapter will put you right
Chapter 8 is for those of you on a tight budget and want to be shown how to make the perfect pc. There is a myth in circulation this chapter cleans the myth of inexpensive dose not mean cheap.
I am a former IBM Engineer and have repaired over 2000 computers laptops etc and those repairs have been hardware and software related I would recommend this book to any person who build computer systems How to build the perfect pc is a Great book for both novice and professional despite your level there is something you can learn.
