One thing which I gain the utmost pleasure from is Live Music and the reason speaks for itself. Lets take a basic blues band consisting of Bass, Drums, and Guitar and one of the musicians doing the singing or even better if they can all sing.
A good example of that point is the live song written by Paul Weller whilst he was with his first rock band called the Jam. The track is called Funeral Pyre. This is a great Live Music track that consist of Paul Weller on vocals and guitar, and Bruce Foxton on bass guitar and vocals and Rick Buckler on drums.
What is nice is when you look at the song from the point of view from a musician is you begin to divide into pieces and become analytical about each musician is doing. Paul has double track the guitar in some places but most of the time he is playing splash guitar. Defining that, he is relying on the bass and drums to keep the rhythm and he just adds embellishments over the rhythm to help fill the sound.
If you are a true admire of all kinds of Live Music I’m sure you will agree that style can be applied in many ways and with the right song and sound to accommodate that sound the band can sound awesome using that style alone for the whole gig. As for the bass player Bruce Foxton his part has no overdubs and when you here the record and see him perform the song live you will see for yourself.
Live Music continues to fascinate people from all over the world. Some die hard musicians Like John Lee Hooker, Rolling Stones, Queen, BB King who sadly died not so long ago kept going. Their passion for playing live never died irrespective of their age.
